If Lola is the hot cheerleader of Laurelhurst, I guess that makes Jack the bad boy with a heart of gold.

Starting life as a stray, his owner Ashley found him on craigslist just a few days before he was set to be put to sleep.  He was three and half hours away in Washington, so she had to make a quick decision without ever meeting Jack in person. Still undecided about total ownership, she agreed to pick Jack up and transport him to a foster home in Portland. When that foster home fell through, so she offered to keep him for a while until another home opened up. It only took one night for her to decide to keep him forever.

Jack is an affectionate sharpei/rottweiler mix, who’s unique good lucks and docile nature make him very popular.

Jack shares his life with two cats, one of whom hates everyone, and one whom has become Jack’s best friend and primary obsession.

His name is Samson, and all Jack needs in life is his love and attention. Unfortunately, being a large dog makes it more difficult to gain the trust and affection of cats, which hasn’t stopped Jack from trying.  If Samson is laying on the bed, Jack will lay down beside him, and gently extend a paw in friendship, usually with disappointing results.

Aside from his rough past, Jack also struggles with a genetic disease that will send him into high fevers. His constant allergies necessitate daily medication, and his diet is severely restricted due to health issues. Despite these obstacles, Jack just wants to cuddle with Ashley and have his belly rubbed. He doesn’t have the immediate trusting nature of some dogs, but once you’re a part of his pack, he’ll lean on you figuratively and literally.

Reportedly, Lola and Jack are part of an exclusive three-dog pack rounded out by their friend, Cisco. I’ve yet to meet this shepherd/collie mix, but given that we’ve already got the hot blonde and the lovable tough guy with a difficult past, I’m expecting some John Hughes-type jock or maybe a real nerd to round out the clique. I guess we’ll just have to meet him and find out.
