There is a social structure to every dog park. Many of the roles you see in the average American high school can be found amongst our canine companions. You’ve got the beefcakes, the clowns, the hall monitors. Lola, with her silky blonde locks and deep brown eyes, would be the captain of the cheer leading squad, the prom queen, the hot chick.
Something of a social butterfly, she takes it upon herself to seek out newcomers and greet them with a happy dog-smile, before leaning her head on your leg for some physical affection. “She’s the Pamela Anderson of the dog park”, says her owner Jeremy. Lola, as if on command, begins reenacting the opening credits of Baywatch, loping towards us with her blonde fur streaming out in the wind.
It’s no wonder that Lola is something of a heart breaker, attracting amorous canines on a regular basis. She seems to enjoy the attention, at least for a while, but if she feels overwhelmed she will crawl between the legs of her owner, who acts as convenient barrier to romantic proposals.
At home, Lola enjoys eating tangerines and V8 vegetable juice, healthy indulgences which undoubtedly help her keep her svelte, movie star figure. She may be a healthy seven-years-old, but she still has “it”.

The resemblance is clear.
Lola shares her home with two cats, and despite her dog park popularity, she has found herself squarely in the middle of her domestic pack structure. According to Jeremy, Lenny the cat seized power last winter when he drove a pestering Lola into the far corner of the house with a barrage of ferocious swats. Lola learned a lesson that day about bothering a cat who is cozily napping in front of a fire – something we’d all do well to remember.
As might be expected, Lola’s behavior can be somewhat theatrical. Every day on her morning walk, Lola will drop to the sidewalk and lay immobile for upwards of two minutes. It’s not clear why she does this, but her neighbors seem to think it’s her way of saying, “it’s too early for this, I’m simply too tired to go on.” Whatever her motivations, she will eventually rouse herself. After all, she has dog park welcoming committee to run, and the world is full of new people to love her.
